BY AIR Hamilton Island is a 10 minute flight from Airlie Beach, 15 minutes from Proserpine, and 30 minutes from Mackay. From Melbourne the flight takes around 2 hours and 40 minutes, and from Sydney, just over 2 hours. If you leave home in the morning, you can be in the pool by lunch time. No passports or lengthy international check-in processes for domestic travellers - ID is required.
